Blooming Perfection

Certain flaws are necessary for the whole. It would seem strange if old friends lacked certain quirks.

"A man should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day of his life, in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful which God has implanted in the human soul."
— Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Does anyone happen to know the name of this? It is a bush that was on clearance, almost dead. I bought it and planted it in June, and it is thriving right now.

hey lady - i dare say your magnificent red lady is a crepe myrtle, is it not? they are native to louisiana and one of my all time most favorite blooming bush/trees! i grew up with them - climbing their wonderful low hung spreading multiple trunks [trees] - when my youngest grandchild was born i planted a watermelon crepe myrtle tree in his yard for him - the love sunlight and water - mine do, anyway - how wonderful you were able to salvage a magnificent plant - thanks for giving it all that TLC! :)

Oh girlfriend, thank you! You are so righ; it is a crepe myrtle. I may need to replant one of them, they get rather large and not sure one of them has enough room to grow. They are stunning to look at, and the colors are spectacular. If only everything in life was so beautiful. The only way I buy plants are when they are on their last leg, something about giving something a second chance that makes the soul feel good.

I hope you are having a beautiful week. And, I do hope you are having the beautiful weather we are having in Missouri. I can't believe August has been so wonderful; but I'll take it. :) I'm not looking forward to winter; don't care for the extreme cold.xOx

What wonderful photos...I love this bush. My MIL's grew almost tree-like through the years.

Hi Gail!
Thanks so much for the compliment on the pics. They are easy to photograph. :) I am going to transplant one of these, it is too close to the house, now that I know what it is and have looked it up and found the info it. I live in a townhouse and do not have too many places where I can plant things. Probably a good thing, though. :)

This plant is beautiful...I love vibrant color. And I love the quotes. We do need to listen to the sound of lovely music and look at lovely works of art, to keep the world from dulling our senses.
I hope you are having a good day : )
