I'm in KC, so I think it gets colder here than where you are. I wish there was some kind of solar heating device I could use, but I don't know of any. They are really beautiful and I feel sick that I may lose them. They were a lot of work this summer, I washed the filter every day. If I knew anyone who had a large pond I would give them to them, even though I would hate giving them up. Thank you for the advice. xOxSixpence and A Blue Moonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06653475055650433027noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2424891441834252479.post-55066512272436310482011-09-28T19:53:33.890-05:002011-09-28T19:53:33.890-05:00What beautiful colors, both before and after. Here, they winter over in eight or ten inches...I don't know how cold it gets there.

We place a large stick or small log in our water and when it freezes, we wiggle the stick to make an air hole. The ammonia gas build up is what kills them, I think.

You can always bring them in to an aquariam if you acclimate them to the water...float them in a bag of their water until the temps level.Gailhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04219479223227928561noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2424891441834252479.post-45341017691618894362011-09-27T13:10:18.207-05:002011-09-27T13:10:18.207-05:00Hi Christina! And this year, things did not grow so well.
