Spring Azures

Photo by SPBM - Kansas City Contemporary Art Museum

Sometimes the great bones of my life feel so heavy,

and all the tricks my body knows—

the opposable thumbs, the kneecaps,

and the mind clicking and clicking—

don’t seem enough to carry me through the world

and I think: how I would like

to have wings—

blue ones—

ribbons of flame.

How I would like to open them, and rise

from the black rain water.

Views of KC from Hospital Hill

Some pictures of KC... I took these with my iPhone yesterday evening at the hospital. I wish I had a switch to turn myself on today. I am so drained and mentally exhausted that I really have to force my feet to move. Maybe a crane is needed to pull me out of the house today. One would think after years of doing this, you would get used to it. I never do. If anything, I have panic attacks when I drive by a hospital. Every single muscle in my body tightens when I hear the word.
