Project complete

The weather is just crazy acting, cold one day, warm the next, and cold the next. I'll be glad when it is a bit more steady. If it gets a little cold in the house I have to turn the heat on,  along with Sjogren's I suffer from a syndrome that when I get a little cold my finger turn solid white or dark blue and so numb that it feels like if I touch them they would break off. I usually take gloves to the grocery store because it more often than not happens when I am at the store. So turning off the heat when it is cold at all in the house is out of the question.

I made some soup with the remaining ham from Easter, and homemade wheat bread with olive oil, sun dried tomato and herbs dipping oil.
No recipe, just cooked some lima beans and used some leftovers that were in the fridge.

Really tornado like weather today, so far it has been winds and dark skies. It's that time of year, though.

I've been staying busy, trying to keep mind occupied, several doctor appointments coming up. I get quite anxious about some of them.

A quilt I have been hand quilting for a very long time, finally finished. I have it in a box and ready to be shipped to my Bella, who ask for it when I was still sewing blocks together. I wanted to get some really great photos of it before shipping it, but the weather has not permitted me to do so. The photos I did get do not do it justice. It really is stunning. This quilt was inspired by Kaffe Fassett. Not sure I will ever want to hand quilt another quilt this big, it is queen size. Here are the photos I did get.

I have named this quilt Garden Party.

And, I started on little Ada's Fancy Fox quilt. She wanted one after she saw her brothers, so I'm making her quilt in yellows, golds and oranges.

I have the top together and am in the process of sewing the backing together, which will consist of the same fabrics the top is made from.

signs of spring

Finally, it appears spring is now a resident and not a visitor. Can't tell you how ready I am for this, the warmth on the skin and sunny days are a welcome sight. I walked to the store yesterday and the air was still a bit chilly to my liking, but not complaining, really I'm not. I am ready to plant a few flowers and get my fishpond cleaned and running. Plant a few tomatoes, clean my herb garden, and maybe find some new farmer's markets this summer and buy some fresh fruits and veggies and put in the freezer this year

.
I stopped by Hobby Lobby yesterday to pick up some glue for my journal and saw this sweet sofa. I just love the upholstery.

And then...there was this book full of inspiration.

I am going to use this curtain as inspiration to make a shower curtian.

Cheerful and Bright

Orange is a great color, I think.:)  I love this cabinet.

A quilt top I made and need to quilt. As usual, I made this from all recycled fabric, except for the neon yellow-green. It would work on a twin size bed, but I have intentions of using it as wall art, IF I don't sell it. Haven't really decided just yet - it will be a tough one to part with.
I love the colorful pillows.

When I lived in Germany, I would hit the flea markets every weekend. I bought a lot of vintage men's neck ties. As soon as possible I would rip them apart, wash them, then iron them, and store them in plastic tubs under the bed. It was tedious and time consuming, a job a hated. Nonetheless, I continued on with my quest of finding vintage ties. This is one of the quilt tops I have completed. I cherish this one! I will NEVER sell this one. It still has to be quilted, and I will hand quilt it. Being silk, I am too afraid of having it machine quilted. I have a closet full of quilt tops to quilt, so darn time consuming. I have one in the quilting frame right now that feels like I have been quilting on for most of my life. I never fail to say with every quilt I quilt, "I will never do this again". After a couple of months, I put another top in the frame.

These curtains are so pretty, bright and cheery. They should make anyone start their day in a happy mood.

I want to make a patchwork curtain from vintage fabric - they are so bright, and the light shining through the little squares is beautiful.

My Love For 'anything' Kaffee Fasset

How cute are these!

I want this coat!!! And the one thing I cannot do is knit.

A wonderful, talented friend of mine from Germany introduced me to Kaffee Fasset years ago. Since then, he has branched out into many other areas. His talent and style is a thing to behold, in my opinion. I have many of his books, mostly quilting, since I do quilt. I enjoy his other books for inspiration and ideas. Each time I look at one of his books, I want to run to my hobby room and create something, anything.
I was taken back a little when I saw how he had aged. I always want people to stay the same, young, vibrant and full of life. Not to say he is not, but he is older since my last sighting of him.

I am posting a few of his works. If you are not familiar with him, please do take a look at his sight. You may even want to purchase a book or two of his...you will not be disappointed.
