Wool Art

Made by me. Made from recycled European wool, all hand stitched. This crazy quilt was made to be a sofa throw. And I can't tell you how well this works, how comfy and cozy this is. Backing is also vintage wool. Recycling is a big thing for me. I love taking a thing that has been discarded and make it into something uses, practical, and artful.

The hours this takes are more than I want to count or like to remember. I have made several, sold five.

Generous size, enough to keep you well covered. A work of art hanging on a wall, or thrown over a chair or sofa.
$385.00 + $12.00 Shipping

Rosey, thanks for the nice comment. It really is more hours than I like to recall. After one is finished, I have to give myself and my fingers a break before starting another.

Lisa, thanks for your very nice comment! It is important to me to reduce the amount of trash that I/my family contribute to the earth. It may not be all that much, which actually, it is, but every little bit helps. Besides, I am a frugile person too and I don't like throwing things out.

You have a beautiful, interesting, eye-candy blog, which I enjoy very much. Thanks again!!!

Beautiful! Can you tell me if these are made from recycle sweaters or recycled wool fabric?

Hello, Joansie...thanks for stopping by my blog.

These quilts are made from recycled wool clothing, mostly suits. These are not made from sweaters. The wool is not felted. Backing is also wool.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks.

Sixpence,
Your work is so inspiring. I have an ever growing collection of antique quilts and my favorites are always the crazy quilts. I think I'll have to try my hand at one soon.

Harvest, thank you for the nice compliment. They are indeed my favorite of all quilts. I've made one from corduroy, several cotton ones, silk ones, and of course, wool. When I started, I always did a lot of hand-stitching on them, but I don't do this with every quilt anymore, as it has caused me to have a lot of trouble with my hands, especially my wrist. My sister is one of the best quilters I have ever seen, but she does not like making crazy quilts at all, and will not make them. I on the other hand, love them best of all.:)

Thank you for stopping by. I appreciate your comment. It is always nice when another likes and appreciates your work.

This is the first post I saw on your blog, and it struck me, because I've always had a thing for crazy quilts. I've meant for the longest time to try my hand at it, and now I have you for a bit more inspiration!

Tikimama, there is something about taking bits and pieces of fabric and making something beautiful. It is both simple and complex, a lot like life.:) And the thing I have always found when making a crazy quilt is, sometimes the ugliest piece is what adds beauty to the quilt. They are fun to make, and so many different ways to make them. I never get bored when making a crazy quilt. And it is also a great way to use up pieces of fabric that are too small to be used for anything else. Thanks for your comment. Hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend!
