lingering

Morning, by Maxfield Parrish

There are days when I feel I do not belong in this world... When my soul feels ancient, my thoughts lingering in another place and time. Times when I feel connected to another I do not know - Still, I know!… Some days I feel like a tiny boat lost at sea in the storm, drifting to shore, the wrong shore.

I cried for you - Katie Melua

You're beautiful so silently
It lies beneath a shade of blue
It struck me so violently
When I looked at you

But others pass, they never pause
To feel that magic in your hand
To me you're like a wild rose
They never understand why

I cried for you
When the sky cried for you
And when you went
I became a hopeless drifter
But this life was not for you
Though I learned from you
That beauty need only be a whisper

I'll cross the sea for a different world
With your treasure, a secret for me to hold

In many years they may forget
This love of ours or that we met
They may not know
How much you meant to me

I cried for you
And the sky cried for you
And when you went
I became a hopeless drifter
But this life was not for you
Though I learned from you
That beauty need only be a whisper

Without you now I see
How fragile the world can be
And I know you've gone away
But in my heart you'll always stay

I cried for you
And the sky cried for you
And when you went
I became a hopeless drifter
But this life was not for you
Though I learned from you
That beauty need only be a whisper

Your words are pure poetry. They make me feel very introspective. Thanks for this...

Hello, Sixpence!
I've been so frustrated because everytime that I've tried to access your blog I get an error message and Internet Explorer kicks me off! But then I just tried the link on your 'Follower' profile that's on MY blog page and it WORKED! Yay! Don't know what that was all about, but I'm here NOW! And I just realized that I never became an official 'Follower'. Maybe if I had done that, we wouldn't have been apart for so long... Sorry!
I will rectify the situation.

So, about this post - I love it! Maxfield Parrish has always been one of my absolute favorite artists. I'm drawn to his unique color palette. So, of course, I think that 'Morning' is beautiful!
On the other hand, I find your melancholy words a little troubling. You express yourself quite poetically, but are you depressed or just being introspective? I hope it's the latter because, although I do not actually know you, I find you to be a VERY interesting, artistic, and eloquent individual! Of course, that's my blogosphere impression of you, but still. You have made an impression on me, and it is a positive one!

As far as Katie Melua, I'd never heard of her... but I like what you've chosen to share! And that really is lovely, "beauty need only be a whisper". I hope that you have NOT lost anyone dear to you, as the song might indicate.

Wow, sorry for the epic comment! I guess that I had a LOT to say! Hopefully, after I become an official Sixpence 'Follower', I will stay connected to you and your wonderful blog because it really does enrich my day. Bye, for now!

Dear Debra... Today you are a blue, blue moon... I have always thought of Maxfield Parish's works as the internal and eternal experience of youth and promise, and I've tried to capture his work's essence on tile, but it is so ephemeral that it ever eludes me.
Your song has given a whole new dimension to this piece, a depth I haven't felt before in relation to Parish.
That song made me feel like crying for you, and that Parish's sky was indeed doing so.
Very sad, yet very beautiful...

Anthony, David, I'll be back later to reply to your comments. Both comments are fantastic; I loved reading both of them. I appreciate both of you taking the time to leave such thoughtful comments.

Hi Anthony! You are here NOW, that's what matters. And thank you for following my blog.

Maxfield Parrish is a favorite artist of mine. His paintings always make my thoughts wander to far away places. His work has a certain mystery, and I feel I can never quite figure it out.

Depressed? I don't know that's I'm so much depressed, but I am the sort of personality that always seeks answers to questions there seem to be no answer to. Thank you for the beautiful compliment! It is a very good thing that I made a positive impression.

Katie Melua has a unique voice. I've been listening to her for a while. "beauty need only be a whisper" is such lovely line. Unfortunately, I did lose someone.

I'm thrilled that you are now an 'official follower' and that we can stay connected. You're delightful, and I enjoy reading your blog. (hugs)

P.S. Anthony, you do not ever need to apologize for an epic comment!! I love them!

David, you are so sweet! Thank you for your kind words, they mean a lot. It always surprises me how every person sees a piece of art differently - Same way with poetry. I believe we all see what relates to us, what we relate to, in a piece of art. A hundred people can look at the same painting and never see the same thing. For me, Maxwell Parrish's art has always had a loneliness to them.

I hope the song wasn't too depressing for you, and that you did enjoy it.

Thank you for the lovely comment! :)

Sixpence, I'm so sorry to hear that you did lose someone. I hope that, as time passes, your loss will become a bit easier to accept and cope with.

I noticed that I'm now on your Follower list TWICE! Aaack! I will try to fix it, I promise.

Glad you enjoy MY blog, as well. Hugs, right back at ya!

You know, it happens all the time... I am moved by one of my fellow blogger's posts. Yours did so, but then had a more-than-usual lingering affect on me, turning into more of a revelation than I would have ever expected.
My post today "You and Me and Maxfield" is about this, and gives credit to Sixpence and a Blue Moon for spurring this query.
Thanks Debra
David

David, I loved your post! It was thought provoking and I thought about it a lot today while I was out and about. Thank you for letting me know that my post sparked a new thought, a new perspective of your viewing of an artist we both love.

Linda, You are so right! Thanks for your visit. xo

Josh, How odd, I almost used that quote. C.S. Lewis is a favorite of mine, some of his stuff. And yes, made for another world.:) I hope you are recovering and will be back to normal very quickly.

tiki, these feelings do come and go throughout life - it's full of ups and downs. Have a lovely weekend! xo

ennui, Glad you visited my shop; and thank you for the nice compliment. As for charities, I wish I could afford to give to all charities out there, there are so many. So many people who need help, so many causes. I've accepted over the years that I will do what I can do, even if it's just a little bit.
Thank you for noticing. Thank you for the warm visit.

gina, I just know if we lived close we would be good friends. You are very kind, and I appreciate your kindness so very much. Strange, but even through the cyber-world, you can feel the heart and soul of a person. Thanks for being so wonderful!
