The Time Traveler's Wife

Two friends from Bosnia Herzegovina gave this book to me and I loved it. Being the gushy romantic that I am, I found this book to be just the kind of story that carried me far away to a land of romance, adventure and intrigue - a kind of fairy tale that doesn’t happen in real life.

When I heard it was being made into a movie, I was ecstatic. It comes out August 14th and I can’t wait. Having said that, the clip is a little disappointing for me, it doesn’t fit the images I had created inside my head, but isn’t that the way it is with books and movies. No doubt, I will love it anyway - being the hopeless romantic that I am.

If you have not read this book I do recommend it!

I love this book - I wrote about it on my blog ages ago when I read it because it moved me so much - see here: http://catofcuriosity.blogspot.com/2008/10/joy-of-reading-good-book-and-endings.html

I hadn't seen the trailer before but I think Rachael Adams would make a good Clare - she was wonderful in The Notebook, which i just read recently. Still, I know what you mean, Clare and Henry are very different in my imagination -so is the scenery. Hopefully that won't be lost when I watch the film...but films need to be treated differently sometimes as they are never quite as good as the books... xxx

I have not read the book since I'm not much of a reader anymore. But this movie intrigues me and I loved Rachael Adams in The Notebook.

A must see for my list of movie going!

Lenore, thanks so much for the compliment on the header. I think I may have found one that I will like for a while...or maybe not.:) I think the book is going to be quite different, but that's ok.:) Hope you are having a great week! xoxo

Curious Cat, I will be visiting your blog later on tonight to read your post. Like you, I loved this story so much! I agree with you, Rachel McAdams makes a great Clare. The man playing Henry didn't fit my idea of Henry.:) In my mind the scenery was softer and more intimate than what it appears to be in the movie. Still I am sure I will love the movie. I am not one of those who thinks the movie has to be the same as the book. I like it when it is, but I know that it can not be so much so in the production - movies have to extremely edited. Thanks for stopping by. xoxo

Di, My thoughts too, Rachael was fantastic in The Notebook. Since The Notebook I have been a huge fan of hers. I hope you get a chance to read the book. It's great! xoxo

Rosey, it's worth the read. :) xoxo

Down and Out, It's good that you know now. I can hardly wait. :) xoxo

Slices of Beauty, Thanks! I think the ladies are quite gorgeous. A little pretentious maybe? :)
After the movie comes out and we all watch it, we'll have to have a discussion on it. :) xoxo

Seems to be one of the most interestingly strange story lines... and I really want to see it, but am a little timid to do so. I fear it will be a tragic love story, the kind which will break my heart and have me walking around depressed for hours, if not days.

David, OMG, you sound like me.:) I am a real sap!!! I have watched Sweet November probably 20 times, and as of yet, I have never had the courage to watch the ending. I am pretty sure she dies and I can't bear to watch it. Hope your having a great week! xo

Pop, It's a wonderful love story!!! I just hope the movie is somewhat close to the book. I know it will be different, but as long as it's even close. xo

I'll have to look out for this book and the movie.
It's always annoying when you build images in your with how a book should be, then the movie goes and changes details and cast actors that you don't feel are worthy.

Let me also try to get the book and thaks for the post.

whenever a literry work is made into film, the imaginations cease. The charecters which we have created disappear and its quite common that we feel dissappointed.

Oh wow. I had chill bumps several times. Loved the book! I admit I was a bit skeptical when I went to the libraray and they sent me to the "metaphysical" section. I was not disappointed though. It was a great read. I will definitely see the movie (and I don't go see too many).
