Happy Earth Day

I know, I am a day late with 'Earth Day', but every day should be earth day, right? These are from my garden last year. I am hoping to get a few more things planted this year, perhaps this weekend? Since I live in the city and do not have the space, I am limited to what and how much I can plant.

Made new with paint

On one of my trips to the Goodwill a few weeks ago, I found a minnow bucket for a dollar and there was no way I could pass it up. No idea at the time what I would do with it, but that's not even a minor problem so I bought it. Today the sun was out and it was nice outside, I had a can of spray paint I had bought from a clearance shelf last summer and I decided to use it on the minnow bucket. I have a very small porch on the front of my house, so tomorrow, I am taking a table that has been stored in the garage all winter, sitting it in the corner of the porch with my 'newly' painted minnow bucket. As much as I would love to put real flowers in it, there are too many holes and not sure what I could put in it anyway that could handle the direct sun that it will get. Artificial may be the best I can do.:(

New Coffee Maker

After living in Europe for ten years, I learned the difference between a good cup of coffee and a great cup of coffee. I've had some of the best cups of coffee in the world, in just about every European country. When I moved back to the states, even Starbucks coffee couldn't cut it. I used a French press for a long time, but my favorite roasted coffee was across the city, making it difficult to always get there at times, or to have on hand. Eventually, I ended up buying a coffee pot that gave up on me last week. I did a lot of research online and not wanting to mortgage the house to get a coffee pot, I pot, I went with the single cup Keurig. I can't say it is the best coffee. Convenient and fast, yes. I do not like the containers the coffee comes in, they are not biodegradable. For this reason, I would like to return the coffee maker but have used it; I do not feel justified in returning the coffee maker.

I have found that I have to use the bold or extra bold, anything else, the coffee is too thin, making it taste like colored watered-down milk.
Until I find something better this one will have to do.

I do LOVE my coffee.

Wool Art

Made by me. Made from recycled European wool, all hand stitched. This crazy quilt was made to be a sofa throw. And I can't tell you how well this works, how comfy and cozy this is. Backing is also vintage wool. Recycling is a big thing for me. I love taking a thing that has been discarded and make it into something uses, practical, and artful.

The hours this takes are more than I want to count or like to remember. I have made several, sold five.

Generous size, enough to keep you well covered. A work of art hanging on a wall, or thrown over a chair or sofa.
