select your thoughts

Last night's sunset.

"You need to learn how to select your thoughts just the same way you select your clothes every day. This is a power you can cultivate. If you want to control things in your life so bad, work on the mind. That's the only thing you should be trying to control."

— Elizabeth Gilbert (Eat, Pray, Love)

I am SO THERE with this idea! It works and is very powerful!

I actually learnt doing this. From experience I've learnt it's not always as bad as it seems and now I just have to say it to myself. "It's not that bad, that's just your mind overreacting. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and do something."

... and surprisingly it works. :)

Hi Sixpence,

Thank you for this thoughtful post today and yes, we all need to take note of this.
I love the beautiful sunset, what gorgeous colours.

Happy week

I absolutely agree. And it often works (sometimes it doesn't). Still it's important to know it will work again soon. Like an internet connection that occasionally breaks down.

Sandy, thanks for stopping by...I agree, powerful. It's a thing I am working on.:)

Poppy, good for you! I'm working on it, I just have not mastered it...yet.:)

Hi Ruby...I'm so sorry you are experiencing tough times. I hope things improve very quickly for you. It's one of those things that sound great, but not so easy to master. Warm hugs to you!!!

Hello Carolyn! Thanks so much for your lovely thoughts. Maybe if I would meditate more, this would be easier for me. Have a wonderful week!

Hello Minka! I agree, it doesn't always work for me (but I think it's me, not the technique.)Hope you are doing well. Have a great week!

Yes, I'm doing fine, thanks! Of course it's not the technique - it's me :D
