a wish for peace

Hello all my lovely blogging friends!

The past few days have been tough for me with the horrific shooting that took place in Newtown, CT. I will confess up front that I am "anti gun"! My belief is a gun has one purpose, to kill.

It would be nice to lay my head on the pillow at night and know that my two daughters, son-9n-laws, and the four little angels in my life can go to a mall, school, restaurant, movie theater, etc., without being fearful of someone carrying a concealed weapon and using it.

What has happened in Newtown IS too much for the heart to endure. My heart is breaking for all those directly and indirectly affected by this horrific crime.

On a happier note, my daughter had her Christmas Tea today. She LOVES having teas. She fell in love with teas after we lived in Europe and her best friend introduced her to them. This was a nice time for her and her friends to gather and talk about their fears for their children. Support is very important. It's always good when you can talk to others who have the same fears and concerns as a parent - it helps one to understand that they are not alone in their fears. And hopefully, it will ease some of the anxiety they are dealing with at the moment. She lives close to Aurora, CO, where the shooting took place not long ago. :(

Too much killing going on. It's time for it to stop!

Peace to all!

I, too, am anti gun. It's a disturbing time and my heart is aching too. Talking does help and sorting through all the emotions together and trying to find love in the midst of pain helps too. The photos were beautiful. Very magical and that's also part of the healing process seeing good as well as the evil that takes place in this world. love to you xoxo

Hello, Beautiful Lady!

Thank you! I'm totally agree with you - we have to have some beauty in our lives, otherwise, the darkness can take over our souls.

Much love to you, sweet and beautiful soul! xoxo

well I have to be honest...I am not anti gun. My husband hunts for the meat in our freezer...and I do know how to handle fire arms...in fact I have my own.

now that said, what happened has cut me to the core...I feel the grief and the unsettled-ness of it all as well...
this has affected many across the globe...

thank you for your beautiful images

Thank you for your comment, Cat. Love ya!

It's so true, it's time like this when we have to search and find the good. My daughter is trying hard to deal with this horrific thing. I think she is feeling so fearful right now. It's so sad to have to be so afraid to drop your kids off at school, or go to a mall.

Wishing you a beautiful week!!!

xoxo

i am not a fan of guns at all, either. also, i think it's so important to get to the root of things...the mental health of our youth.

your daughter's tree is gorgeous! what a lovely tea!

(p.s. i responded to your sweet comment over on my blog. i am so touched! xox)

Jo, I agree on the the mental issue has got to be pursued. Although, I have two family members and two high school friends who involved in shootings and killings (all separate incidents.) None of those were because of mental illness, all were out of moments of emotional anger. One hs friend is serving a life sentence, he was not an angry person, a great guy in hs, as good as they get. In all cases, guns were handy. Still, the idea that anyone with mental issues can own a gun is really sick. I'm sure there will a lot of conversations going on in Washington for many months to come.

I am jealous I live to far away to go to my daughter's tea. She loves doing them. It's a good time for her to spend some time with her two best friends. If I were there, I'd have to make a pot of coffee. :)

I am on my way to read your comment. :)

xoxo

how wonderful to be able to drop by "your place" here in blogland and always feel at home and as if it were just a day or so ago that we last "sat and visited over tea" - thank you so much for your ongoing beautiful friendship - all my best wishes for a glorious holiday season for you and yours - xxx jenean

I continue to feel the jolt when I see the name of Newtown in print, as they are our not-too-distant neighbors and were only two towns over until we moved here seven years ago. I hoped that this tragedy would provide an opening to more serious conversation in our country regarding weapons and ammunition, but I'm less confident of that with each day that passes.

Thank you for bringing us to afternoon tea, so that we may all be reminded of the joys that life contains.
