new course

“We lead our lives like water flowing down a hill, going more or less in one direction until we splash into something that forces us to find a new course.”--Memoirs of a Geisha

"most people don't know there are angels whose only job is to make sure you don't get too comfortable & fall asleep & miss your life." ~ from the book 'Still Mostly True" by Brian Andreas

These quotes are nice.

The first one is SO true, and a great analogy! The second one, I'm not so sure I agree with. I think the idea of angels is a comforting one, but I'm just not convinced that they actually exist. However, it IS a very poetic line.

Beautiful image, too!

I wrote something to go with the quotes, then took it off (like I so often do). As for the second quote, I think there is 'some thing' out there that keeps us from getting all warm and cozy... I do believe in angels, otherwise, I don't think any of us would make it out childhood. But I sometimes wonder if their duty to watch over us is set on a timer and once it goes off, there we are - on our own.

And I can't remember where I found that image. If I find out, I will post the credits.

Big plans for the weekend? Whatever you do, have a great weekend!

Anthony, if you get a chance to see Brian's art, do! I think you might like his art. I got to see it in IRL at a wonderful art store in Boulder, CO. His art style is fun, energetic, colorful, witty... Here's a link to his web site: http://www.storypeople.com
His books are great too!

thanks for the great quote! I've been reminding myself that I need to "go with the flow" and this is so much more eloquent!

Thanks for the link to Brian's site, Six! He is quite witty while making some interesting life observations. And although I do find his color usage delightful, his art style isn't really my thing. However, it's still fun to find new artists that I'm not familiar with!

As far as weekend plans, nothing major. My husband will probably be in the den working away on something arty, like one of his comic books (Autumn, Skelebunnies, or The Royal Historian of Oz). If you're interested, check out his website at www.tommykovac.com. But be warned, since I don't have a clue as to your tolerance of "dirty" humour, let me just say that his Skelebunnies comic would be considered a bit risque in most circles!

I, on the other hand, will probably toil away on picking up the house, take a couple of good, long walks and try to find the time for doing something arty, myself.

Hope YOU have a great weekend, whatever you do!

I just love his books; and have most of them. He had a table on display in Boulder that I would love to have - but my taste is very eclectic and I like a little of everything.

I will check out the web site. Don't fear, I can handle it.:)

Long walks and doing something arty, that sounds like a perfect weekend to me.

Mine may not be so much fun, my niece fell from a ladder on Monday. She is in ICU, and has taken a turn for the worse today. I may be driving to the hospital which is about 5 hours away, but if she continues to get worse, I will go. Her brain is swelling, she broke most of the bones in her face, has a fractured skull, and broke a hip - not in good shape at all. So, not to throw in a downer, but this is where I may be over the weekend. If she starts to improve, I probably won't go at this time. Lots of family and friends at the hospital right now, I don't know that they have room for anymore.

Anyway, enjoy your weekend, sweet guy! Hugs!!

Oh, no! That is really awful about your niece, Six. How old is she? And what was she doing on that ladder?!

Things like this do make you pause and think about the importance of EVERY moment we are alive, though. Hopefully, your niece WILL recover and you will be able to share many more moments together.

I will think good thoughts...

one of my biggest fears is that i'll "miss" my life by constantly wanting to something more or by planning every detail of the future. i have to stop, daily, and remind myself to not miss THIS.

Anthony, yesterday was a bad day, sometime around midnight last night she opened her eyes and actually knew a couple of the family members, which she had not been able to do since the accident. She has a very, very long and rough road ahead of her. Probably a lot of surgeries, they say she will have to learn to talk again, walk again, etc.

Slices of Beauty, Thanks. I'll try.:)

Down and Out, I know what you are saying, except for the planning, that part I don't do. I am almost the opposite. I can't stand planning. Probably because as the saying goes "make plans, make God laugh". That's exactly what He does when I make a plan.:) You'll do just fine!!! xox

Oh, that second one... Wow. Wow.
