Shop Green

Mexican Baskets

Nicaragua Baskets

Baskets are one way I shop green. While living in Germany I did all my shopping using baskets. This way of life continued after I returned to the states. I get a few stares now and then with a cart full of baskets; living in the Midwest you can expect that. I don't mind at all. I've been doing it for so long that it does not bother me. These are some of the types I use. I love the colorful ones.

places in the future

Pablo Neruda is one of my so very favorite poets. How I wish I could have known this man, spent time sitting at a table across from him and listen to him tell his story and read his poetry. Wow!

Pablo Neruda

“and that’s why i have to go back
to so many places in the future,
there to find myself
and constantly examine myself
with no witness but the moon
and then whistle with joy,
ambling over rocks and clods of earth,
with no task but to live,
with no family but the road.”

If I Could I Would Be...

Spanish.
I love everything about the Latin culture and if I could be Latin, I would be. Being half Irish and half German I have pasty white skin, light hair and blue eyes. I have always envied the look of the Latin people, their style and passions, their dark skin, dark hair, and their mysterious dark eyes.

Frida Kahlo is one of my favorite artist. I love reading anything about her, her life.

The Tango is my favorite dance. And NO I cannot dance The Tango.:(

And though I love most Spanish foods, after spending quite a bit of time in Spain I must honestly admit, they eat things I can't bring myself to put in my mouth. Flan is one of my favorite things to eat.

And you gotta love their style. Well, I do.

What about you?

does anyone know???

Could this be an ashtray??? The base is very heavy thick glass.

I have a room full of antique pricing books, but I cannot find this in any of them. Maybe I do not know what I am looking for. Probably.

If you have an idea what this piece is, would you please let me know.

Junk Store Find

Sometimes you go to the Thrift Shop and find a big fat "O", other times you go and find something that makes up for all the times you go and find that big fat nothing. Jordan, who is ten, LOVES Elvis. Jordan also has a birthday coming up in a week. I found the neatest gift for him yesterday, an Elvis vinyl album. I'll have it framed and he can hang it on his bedroom wall. I am pretty sure he is going to love it.

Elvis was a very cute little boy!

I can't help myself, I LOVE "life is a verb"

If you have not read this book, PLEASE DO! This book is inspirational and has so much good in it, you will pick it up more than once during a day. I carry this book all over the house with me, and throughout the day I will open it to a random page and read tidbits, then I can ponder it while I am working on something else. It is a visual candy store and every sentence, every word, is a thought provoking poke to the brain.
Patti Digh has some great advice to share with us.

I strongly recommend this book.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE life is a verb!

So 'UGLY' So 'CUTE'

Today has been a day of taking photos for my Etsy store, not that I am the best photographer.:) Anyways, I was taking photos of this 'ugly' guy...but the thing is, he is so ugly he is cute.

No doubt there is a name for these guys? I just don't know what it is. Do you?
