happy new week

Will winter ever end? I'm not so sure since last week was cold, snowy, even had some sleet. Really waiting to get two or three nice days in a row. It's hard to believe we're into May and still having such cold weather.

I mean really...what is up with this?

So, I found a couple more treasures to keep for myself last week. One was a set of glasses made from wine bottles. I just love the colors. For a while now I've been wanting some of these, but really did not want to try and make them myself. I was surprised when I found these...and got a deal on them. Can't beat that.

Now, if someone can tell me why I bought a whole watermelon??? What was I thinking? I love watermelon, but David, being diabetic, is limited to how much he can have and I can only eat so much. Anyways, it was much better than I expected it to be for this time of year. And, if you have never tried watermelon with ginger on it, do. I had a friend from Kenya tell me that they sprinkle ginger juice on their watermelon. I don't have the patience to grate enough ginger to get enough juice, so I just add grated ginger on ours. We LOVE it! I try to get ginger in our diets as often as possible, this is a great way to do that. Unless you LOVE ginger as much as I do, you may not want to add quite as much grated ginger. But do give it a try, I think you'll really enjoy this twist on watermelon.

thankful

There are times when the weight of life feels to heavy to unbend. Breathing is too labored to keep inhaling and exhaling. Yet, when I look at the universe, I feel wrapped in the sense that everything is OK.

Today, I am thankful.

3/24

Just when I thought winter was behind us, Mother Nature has proven she is in control. Woke up to an impressive snow this morning, much to my dismay. I need sunshine and warm air on my skin. Fortunately, I have no need to get outside and get myself chilled to the bones. I have groceries, and most important coffee. :) Going to make stuffed spaghetti squash boats for dinner. Yum.

My thoughts, concerns, and prayers go out to all those who do not have shelter to cover them or food to eat today.

Just finished another decoupaged mannequin head this week.

Wow, can you believe we are almost at the end of March already. Time doesn't slow down, does it?

Wishing everyone a beautiful day!

Preparing For Cold Weather

This past weekend was spent finishing a couple of projects that I started last winter. Seems I always have several projects going at one time. If something interrupts me in the middle of a project, it is pushed aside for a while and I start another before finishing it. That's what happened with this scarf. It was simple enough to make, but took a lot of time taking apart thrift store apparel and cleaning it before sewing into something wearable. Some of this scarf was old suits I purchased in Germany; they have beautiful wool in Europe. Anyways, it’s finished now. YAY!!!

I debated on whether to sew around the edge and decided not to. I may decide to do it later but for now, I like it this way. I am very much into recycling - and it always feels so good when I make things from recycled, discarded items. Makes me feel like I am doing my part in saving the earth. :)

On a different note, I made a recipe I found on Pinterest, using portobello mushrooms. Amazingly delicious! ...so easy and healthy.

Came and Went

We have had zero winter this year, so far. This morning the most beautiful snowflakes fell, beautiful snowflakes like I haven't seen in a quite a few years - BIG and FLUFFY white snowflakes = MAGIC in the air.

I was thrilled, it was beautiful for a short time and then...gone. Damn, sounds like my dreams. :)
