Daily Miracle

When I see something amazing, I think it is a sign of good things to come, at least it gives me hope that a miracle is on its way. A double-bloom flower was my sign today - one stem, a perfect bloom on each side of the stem.

“Love works in miracles every day: such as weakening the strong, and strengthening the weak; making fools of the wise, and wise men of fools; favouring the passions, destroying reason, and in a word, turning everything topsy-turvy.”  ~Marguerite De Valois

“Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?”
 ~Henry David Thoreau

“Miracles are not contrary to nature, but only contrary to what we know about nature.”  ~Saint Augustine

“The child must know that he is a miracle, that since the beginning of the world there hasn't been, and until the end of the world there will not be, another child like him.”  ~Pablo Casals

“Miracles are a retelling in small letters of the very same story which is written across the whole world in letters too large for some of us to see.”  ~C.S. Lewis

forgiveness

Everyone deserves to be forgiven.

What characterises the human race more, Karla once asked me, cruelty, or the capacity to feel shame for it? I thought the question acutely clever then, when I first heard it, but I'm lonelier and wiser now, and I know it isn't cruelty or shame that characterises the human race. It's forgiveness that makes us what we are. Without forgiveness, our species would've annihilated itself in endless retributions.

One of my last MORNING GLORY blooms...the vines are dead. I found it curious that the bloom was so beautiful when the vine was dead.
