catch the good
Today I choose to believe good things are on the way. I choose to believe healing and good health are part of my life. All is well.

I've been reading a lot lately about the law of attraction; one of the things it says is when we push things away that we do not want, we are actually keeping it in our life. I find this to be a difficult one to change, but I must try harder.
We got a couple of really "nice and fluffy" snows in the past couple of weeks. I must say, even though it came at a difficult time for me, it was very beautiful. Lots of walking to the store.

a trip to truman er
Spent most all day and night at the ER today. They ended up not admitting D., sent him home with another antibiotic prescription, heavier and more frequent dosages. I am happy and scared. Happy to be back home, scared to be so responsible for taking care of this foot.
A trip to Truman ER is never any fun, but then...no ER is ever any fun. Truman has saved his life more times than I can count. It is a teaching hospital and I love that. A lot of people do not, I do. I have watched these young doctors do so much good, they are still cheerful, and even excited to be doing this work. They're eager to find a solution. D has been in hospitals where they have said there is nothing more we can do, they never say that at Truman.
I just finished treating D's feet for the evening, omg, I just pray they start improving quickly. It looks worse than it did this morning. I do hope they know what they were doing when they sent him home. And I really do hope that listening to Deepak Chopra tonight helps the anxiety I am feeling. Sleeping will not come easy for me tonight, will have to get up every four hours to check on him and give him antibiotics.
Seriously, I want some paved roads now and then on this journey called "life."
On a different note, I called D's mom to fill her in. I swear, I always, always wonder why I do. She is the hardest woman to talk to I've ever known. But during our conversation about waiting in emergency rooms, she stated the reason we have to wait so long is because of the "Mexicans." I cannot convey what that statement did to me. Everything in me wanted to throw darts. Since I am really trying hard to get my karma going in another direction, I held my tongue, somewhat. I was secretly telling myself "this is a test, keep your mouth shut". Ever since I hung up the phone, I have been angry with myself for not saying more, it's not in my nature to stand silent when another human being is being degraded in any way. All I can say is, I am so thankful my parents would never have thought this way or said anything so cruel. I sometimes wonder if my husband was adopted, he is so different from anyone in his entire family.
I am 'sorta' sorry for venting, but I feel I need to get this off my chest...and I am really tired and worried. See here comes the confusion, I would have felt guilty had I spouted off (which is my normal self) but in trying to be a kinder and gentler spirit, I still feel guilty for not speaking up.
Well, anyways, going to finish this and get off this computer. I keep wondering if I should just sit and watch D's foot, making sure it does not get any worse during the night. I need a little sleep, though, really I do.
For anyone who had the patience to read this, I hope I didn't bore you to death. I try not to get to personal on my blog, but I'm needing to lighten the load a little tonight.
Hope everyone is having a great week!
I'll leave you with some pics from today's trip to Truman, and a few wonder quotes to ponder.

nugget of hope
Wow! Two postings in one day for me - this is big. :)
I have so much going on in my life - a lot of fearful things. If only I could let go of the fear and just let life happen. I'm constantly searching for words, blogs, writings, quotes and sayings to give me that little pinch of hope in order to keep putting one foot in front of the other and keep on going.
I just read Paulo Coelho's blog and found that little nugget that helps tonight. I wanted to post it, with the hope that maybe it will be nourishment for another's trying moment.
CHANGE AND RENEWAL by PAULO COELHO
When winter arrives, the trees must sigh in sadness as they see their leaves falling.
They say: ‘We will never be like we were before.’
Of course.
Or still, what is the meaning of renewing oneself? The next leaves will have their own nature, they pertain to a new summer that approaches and which will never be like the one that passed.
Living means changing – and the seasons repeat these lessons to us every year.
Changing means going through a period of depression: we still don’t know the new and we have to forget everything we used to know.
But if we are a little patient, spring ends up arriving and we forget the winter of our hopelessness.
Change and renewal are the laws of life.
It is best to get used to them and not suffer about things that only exist to bring us joy.

Could you live with these walls? I could...I think. :)

On The Wings Of A Dove
Have you ever wished you could hitch a ride on the back of a bird and fly along on the hope and faith of a bird? I have. I do. I thought about this today when I saw a Dove perched on the bird feeder pole. Think of birds flying, they never hesitate when spreading their wings and flying. They travel light - no baggage, no fear, no nagging what ifs, (yes, I am a big “what iffer”.) Just imagine if they took into account all the things that could go wrong…I envy their “no worry” take on the world and life. They don’t worry about whether their belief is the right one, if they are doing things right, or whether the path will be the right or wrong one - if only…

A Rough Beginning
It has been a week of sadness and reflection. Not only were Saturday’s events horrific, I heard a story on the 10 o’clock news Monday night that is horrific. A four-month-old baby boy had all his fingers chewed off by the family pet ferret. His two thumbs and part of one pinkie is all that is left. This is so horrible that I cannot even begin to wrap my head around how this could happen. The thought of a little baby screaming and no one coming to his rescue him until all his fingers are gone makes me sick at my stomach, heart and mind. I wake up during the night in tears thinking of the difficult life this little boy has ahead of him and wondering, how could such horrific thing possibly happen. As a mother myself and feeling I have not slept soundly since the moment they were born, I cannot imagine sleeping through something like this. Honestly, I don’t even know how to pray for this baby. Had it been one or two fingers or even one hand…but all fingers… I wonder what life has in store for this little angel? Whatever it is, it will not come easy. I woke up several times last night with him on my heart and mind, hugging my pillow and asking God to send my love and hugs to him. I don’t know this little guys name. I don’t know anything about him or the short time he has been on this earth, but I will forever hold him in my heart, thoughts and prayers.
If only my tears had powers.
My prayer is for all those who are hurting in any way.

forgiveness
Everyone deserves to be forgiven.
What characterises the human race more, Karla once asked me, cruelty, or the capacity to feel shame for it? I thought the question acutely clever then, when I first heard it, but I'm lonelier and wiser now, and I know it isn't cruelty or shame that characterises the human race. It's forgiveness that makes us what we are. Without forgiveness, our species would've annihilated itself in endless retributions.

One of my last MORNING GLORY blooms...the vines are dead. I found it curious that the bloom was so beautiful when the vine was dead.
