Early Christmas

My daughter sent me a gift and told me I could go ahead and open it - not a problem. I was so excited when I opened it and found something I had been wanting for quite a while now. Both son-in-laws are getting these from us for Christmas. I was waiting until after Christmas to buy one for myself. My daughter knew how much I was wanting one for myself and sent me one. She wanted me to open so I didn't buy one. Made my first coffee in it this morning, it lived up to everything I have read and been hearing about the Chemex. I've been using a French Press for years, this makes a better tasting coffee, in my opinion. I really like not having the sediments in my coffee and being able to drink to the last drop without having a bitter taste. I am so impressed !

Love my kiddos ! A big thanks to my daughters!

time for coffee

Obviously Mother Nature is not aware that it is spring. She dumped a little snow on us yesterday and last night. It's nothing big; it's more the cold issue that is bothering me. Anything below 75 is cold to me these days. So, my prescription for cold is a delicious cup of French press coffee, curling up on the sofa, and a stack of magazines to thumb through. It's the first day this week there has not been a doctor's app. or hospital visit. I'm not feeling extremely energetic, so going to take it slow this afternoon and maybe, the energy will start flowing by evening.

I hope everyone is having a lovely week, and will enjoy a beautiful weekend ahead.

I've Made A Switch

Recently I've made the switch from Starbucks to Caribou...and so very happy about it. After far too many drinks from Starbucks in the past few months - across the street from my house - that had to be poured out, I switched. It was very easy after purchasing my first coffee from Caribou. During the summer, I would walk to the store and make it a point to go during their happy hour and get the bubble tea. About a week and half ago the weather was too cool to drink the tea while walking from the store to the house. I decided to try their regular light blend coffee...and boy was I surprised at how great it was. I always got a latte from Starbucks because I never liked their regular brew coffee; every single cup I have tried from Caribou's has been GREAT!!!! I especially love Amy's Blend. And drinking the regular coffee is so much cheaper than a latte. YAY!!!

I feel like I a new friend. :)

It's All About Presentation

I have a thing for drinks, especially coffee and frozen drinks. When I saw this coffee drink, I start drooling immediately. I just know, within my heart of knows, that this drink would make the whole world seem like a gentler and kinder place. I want this drink so badly, I would travel to the ends of the earth to have one, if I could afford to travel to the ends of the earth. I just love everything about this drink/photo. My coffee drinks never look like this when I get them from Starbucks. :(

So, if you have not visited this blog before, head over there now.

Going BLONDE

I will never have a cup of coffee as good as the coffee I had while living in Europe...They know coffee, and they know how to make it, deliciously. Before moving to Germany, I drank colored watered. After moving to Germany, we lived in a hotel for 3 months before finding a place to live and there, I discovered a dark coffee that did not taste bitter or burnt. One of the things I dislike so much is not finding good coffee shops in the states. Starbucks coffee does not compare to the little coffee shops in Germany or throughout Europe. I make my coffee in a French Press. It makes the best coffee. I did have a single cup coffee maker, but it no longer works, so was happy to go back to my French Press. Now, back to my original point - I have found that the new BLONDE roast from Starbucks is nice; it taste like coffee but has smoothness to it that I really like.

The day doesn’t begin before having a GOOD cup of coffee.

six uninteresting things that make me happy (tagged by kate)

I was tagged by Kate to list six uninteresting things that make me happy. Though I am not very good at these tag things, I will attempt this one. I am not going to tag anyone, but if you would like to do this, please do. Not listed in any order and there are so many things I love, it was hard to pick only six.

1.) Flowers (Especially the ones I can get to grow. This is one of my roses that has bloomed this year).

2.) That first cup of coffee in the morning.

3.) Nature (all of it. I took this photo last summer).

4.) Old things (I love the secrets that are embedded deep in the soul of 'old things'. I bought this lovely piece of copper from an old man in Turkey, who was a vendor on the street).

5.) Hats (All kinds - One of my many hats).

6.) VW Bugs (though I do not own one now, it was my favorite car. I’m thinking I want another one, they are so much fun to drive, ...and they make me smile).

What makes you smile???
