missing my mom

This week has been one of those weeks when I wish I could pick up the phone and call my mom and dad, or, go see them. I miss them every second of every day, but there are those days when I feel they would have advice or answers that no one else has.

(I took a photo of a photo and a photo of a glass of water - came up with this one. I LOVE it!)

David had another appointment today regarding his feet, the infected toe is doing well. So thankful!!! These infected toes have ended up with extended hospital stays, like three months or longer. I hate that he is back on antibiotics, but...it's way too risky for him not to take them.

Little Marelli has been a bit under the weather, kinda of a croup-like cough. He's not coughing a lot, but it started last night. Had doctor apps. today, so when he started coughing around 6 p.m., took him by the animal hospital just to get him checked. They were closed. I decided to take him by the vet with the chance he would still be there. Thankfully, he was just backing out of the parking lot, was able to tell him how he was acting, he is wonderful and told me what to do till morning. He didn't think I would even need to bring him in come morning, but said if he was still coughing to do so. I hoping what he told me to do will work. Don't need to spend any money on vets this coming month.

As for the weather, we had one beautiful, awesome, delicious day this week, Monday. It got cold last night and did a little snowing, more sleet than snow. The roads are not bad, but a good idea to take extra precaution when walking.

I hope everyone is having a beautiful and healthy week! Too many people do not understand that if they have their health, they have so much.

Good Advice

Think less. Feel more. Ask once. Give thanks often. Expect the best. Appreciate everything. Never give up. Make it fun. Lead.

Hello...

Hello Everyone...

I hope this post finds all of you doing well and enjoying the start to fall.

Since I did not want to put a damper on any-one's good mood, I haven't been posting. We've been very busy with Dr. appointments for a long time. D. has been getting three treatments a week to try and get some feeling back in his feet, so they will not have to be amputated. I was treating them 2-3 times a day for awhile, and had a nurse who came to the house twice a week. The nurse has stopped coming and I am having to treat them only once a day, and haven't had to wrap them for about a week and half now, which is so nice. I hold my breath each day, though, fearful of something new being wrong. He has been up sorting his books on shelves, and I can't tell you how it drains me to worry about a book or something falling on his feet. But it's good for him to be doing something.

I've been trying to stay positive and get back into doing a few creative things. Creativity seems to go into hiding when the heart and soul are fearful and full of worry.

The hot weather has broken and gorgeous weather has arrived. The cooler weather is wonderful. And if the Universe were to ask me...I would tell it to stay the way it is for a long time. Not having to run the air or heat is a very nice thing.

Fall may not be as colorful this year, due to the extreme heat and drought over the summer. Hopefully there will be some fall colors to enjoy.

Again, I hope everyone is doing well!!!

Some pics to show you what little I have been doing in the creativity department. :)

My idea and inspiration book - collaged the cover. Quite happy with the finished product. :)

Homemade rolls.

Crockpot chicken and noodle soup.

Roasted carrot and beet with quinoa and feta cheese.

Grilled chicken sandwich on homemade rolls, fresh spinach, fresh basil and cilantro (because it is growing like crazy in my herb garden, a homemade dill sauce, sliced yellow pepper (because I had some that needed to be used) and topped with crumbled blue cheese - turned out delicious!!!

And now...Marelli says hi...

A Sunday Kind of Lazy

Took these yesterday, actually. Marelli watching me work.:)
Not much energy to do much today, used it all up yesterday. We also got the pond cleaned, put the fish back in it. Yes, they survived (thrived) in a green plastic tub and living in the basement through the winter. Can't believe it, but I'm so happy. Now, if they will just stay alive in the pond.:) They are three times the size they were last summer. Lost one during the winter, it jumped out of the tub?
Fish photos are not that great, pond is a little cloudy and it was late in the evening. I get the best pictures of them when the sun is shining on the pond.

Little Marelli Visits The Vet Today

My little guy jumped off the car seat today and pulled a nail out of his back paw, (it's the wet paw in the back.) I think it hurt me more than it hurt him. Took him to the vet to get it checked and make sure it didn't need any treatment. It didn't. It bled a lot. I was very afraid it was bad. He was such a trooper, didn't complain once. It's doing great and he's not even limping.

Most of the time...

Does anyone understand their own fragility? I doubt it. People never know what thing it is that will break the thread that holds them together. There are things that unravel us little by little, without our knowing the exact breaking point.

Most of the time, it is not the big thing that breaks us - it's the little thing.

My little Marelli

“We who choose to surround ourselves

with lives even more temporary than our

own, live within a fragile circle;

easily and often breached.

Unable to accept its awful gaps,

we would still live no other way.

We cherish memory as the only

certain immortality, never fully

understanding the necessary plan.”

― Irving Townsend

“There's no fear in a shallow heart

because the shallow heart is faint and don't fall apart,

But feeling hearts that truly care

are fragile to the flow of air.”

― Q-tip

“Now the thought of forever makes me tired. Frightened. Sad. What is forever worth? When love is so fragile and even one human life so long?” ~Stacey Jay

Marelli

Yesterday was grooming day for Portia and Marelli. They always return home exhausted since they leave the house at 6:30 and do not get their usual morning naps. Marelli was just about to attack the camera he was so annoyed with the photo shoot. Portia escaped under the sofa to avoid the camera. I LOVE these two so much!!!! (Even though Portia would not participate in the photo shoot, she's a little doll!)

Portia + Marelli = BABIES

Hello, Everyone!

Yes, I am back home, but ended up going back to Kentucky, no storm this time through. When I went a little over two weeks ago, I was caught in that big storm that went through Louisville. (No fun) Confession: I was scared! The wind was whipping my car all over the place and there was no way to get off the interstate. So, the last trip was a bit more uneventful, thankfully.

I had left Portia, my baby with the groomer, she was due to have her puppies while I was away. Sure enough, she did! She had a rough time; the groomer (who is FABULOUS!!!) took her to the emergency room. The doctor wanted to do a c-section, (Portia had other plans) while he was out of the room with his staff setting up the surgery room, she delivered one. He still wanted to do a c-section, left the room and she had another. In the end, she delivered all three (that's the way we women are, we do things our way) - one boy, two girls.

She is doing well, but she looks and acts so tired! Poor little thing!!!

Portia is the best little mommy any puppy could have. Marelli is a great little daddy, but he stays away at Portia's request. He's a SMART little man, he does not push her at all.:)

Me on the other hand, I am a nervous wreck. I am having a hard time sleeping, or doing anything that takes me out of the room. The little boy whined today and with every whine, I felt my stomach turn, worrying that something may be wrong.

Thank goodness I have had my children, don't know if I could handle it anymore. :)

I will try to catch up with everyone tomorrow.

Thanks to all of you who left messages and sent me email, your words were so very comforting. I appreciate each one of you!!!
